22-year-old Elijawa Logan has been charged with the murder of David Figueira and will appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today. He also faces charges of possession of firearm, possession of ammunition and attempted shooting with intent.
Two other persons, Steffon Belgrave and Jordan Belgrave will face charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Details follow in this press release from the TTPS:
A Cocorite man is expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today, charged with the murder of David Figueira, which occurred on Tuesday 9th November, 2021.
ELIJAWA LOGAN, aka ‘Miz’ and ‘Mystery’, 22, of Harding Place, also faces charges of possession of firearm, possession of ammunition and attempted shooting with intent.
Two other persons, STEFFON BELGRAVE, aka ‘Phil’ and ‘Steffon Williams’, 23, of Sage Street, Cocorite and JORDAN BELGRAVE, aka ‘Jordan Williams’, of the same address, face charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Figueira, 32, of Hillside Avenue, Cascade, was with a group of persons in the Cocorite area around 12:35 pm, on Tuesday 9th November, 2021, when they were allegedly attacked by two men. The Cascade man then attempted to pursue one of his attackers, but was approached by a third man who was armed with a gun. The victim was shot multiple times and died at the scene. The gunman then allegedly attempted to shoot another man, but this proved futile. The assailants then escaped.
Investigations were launched into the incident and the trio was arrested by officers of the Western Division Task Force, on Friday 12th November, 2021.
Charges were laid by PC Mc Intosh, on Wednesday 17th November, 2021, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on that same date.
Investigations were supervised by Insp. Jones of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region One, Insp. Grant of the Western Division and included officers of the Western Division Task Force and Western Division Crime Scene Unit.
