As deadline day for eviction dawned, residents of Crompston Trace, Crown Point Tobago were captured this morning removing items from their home. The residents occupied lands needed for the ANR Robinson airport expansion project.
Beneath the rainfall, some residents were seen clearing out materials and appliances. Last week, the high court dismissed an application by residents for a judicial review to halt the acquisition process and was given up until today to vacate their properties.
Last month residents and police clashed when authorities attempted to execute an eviction order. It was reported that while some residents of Zone Ds were satisfied with their compensation offer, others were not.
The airport expansion project is expected to cost 1.2 billion dollars.
