The hus­band of maxi taxi dri­ver Lau­ra Sankar, has been charged with her mur­der. 

Narad Sankar was charged af­ter be­ing held in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent on Sat­ur­day.

Sankar, 34, was chopped to death in front of her two chil­dren, ages 16 and sev­en, fol­low­ing an ar­gu­ment at their home in Post Of­fice Trace, New Grant around 5.45 pm on Sat­ur­day.

Sankar’s chil­dren are now re­ceiv­ing coun­selling from the TTPS Wit­ness and Vic­tim Sup­port Unit since they wit­nessed the at­tack.

There have been 28 do­mes­tic-re­lat­ed mur­ders re­port­ed this year, with 14 cas­es solved.

Be­tween Jan­u­ary and Au­gust, po­lice re­port­ed over 1,227 cas­es of do­mes­tic vi­o­lence.
