A property dispute may be the reason why 63-year-old Sahadaye Ramnath was chopped about her face, head, hands and body by a 92-year-old man who is known to her.
Zeena Kadil, 45, said her mother was involved in an altercation with the man sometime after 6 pm at the victim’s Longdenville Road, Longdenville home, when the man pulled out a cutlass and started chopping her.
Kadil said her mother knew the man and the argument may have been about a property dispute.
“I went out,” Kadil said. “I got a call from the Chaguanas Health Centre … Well, my brother tell meh my mother get chop and thing and de house bun down. When I went there, I saw meh mother. She get chop across she face and one ah she finger cut out and she get chop across the body. She tell me she run in de station.”
Kadil said her mother ran to the nearby police post seeking help. She said it was probably at this time the house was set on fire.
Kadil said her mother remains warded at the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex in a serious condition.
