A shooting in Caura last night ended in the death of a 41-year-old man and the wounding of a nine-year-old girl.
Police said Carlton Elias recently returned to his Tumbasound Road home with relatives around 11:30 PM when he was confronted by two gunmen in camouflage clothing who shot him several times.
The girl was wounded in her left forearm.
Relatives at the home heard the gunshots and on checking, saw Elias' body.
The wounded girl was taken to hospital where she remains warded.
Tunapuna police were called in with a district medical officer who declared Elias dead.
Investigators found a shotgun cartridge and a cutlass at the scene.
Police said Elias was known to plant marijuana in the area.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II are continuing enquiries.
