Police believe that a man found dead close to a cemetery in Claxton Bay yesterday could be a 32-year-old missing man.
The man's body was discovered under a bandstand around 6.45 am by a worker who went to clean the Diamond Cemetery.
Police said Curtland Wharwood of Parrylands, Guapo was reported missing on Tuesday. His 78-year-old relative told officers that around 9 pm on Monday, he received information via social media of a video of Wharwood lying motionless with what appeared to be wounds to the head at an unknown location.
The relative told police he spoke with Wharwood's mother, who had not heard from him, nor did she know his whereabouts.
The relative told police that Wharwood left home in a car around 9 am on Monday.
An autopsy is expected to be done at the Forensic Science Centre to determine the cause of death.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3 are investigating.
