A 29-year-old mo­tor­cy­clist from Freeport lost his life in an ac­ci­dent along the Uri­ah But­ler High­way, late Tues­day night.

The de­ceased has been iden­ti­fied as Aaron Joel Per­sad of Per­sad Av­enue, Cal­cut­ta Road in Freeport.

The fa­tal col­li­sion oc­curred around 10:45 pm, as the dri­ver of a white Isuzu pick-up truck was head­ing south near Guaya­mare.

Ac­cord­ing to ini­tial po­lice re­ports, the dri­ver heard a sud­den loud bang from the rear of his ve­hi­cle, fol­lowed by a burst of flames. When he stopped to in­ves­ti­gate, he found Per­sad ly­ing on the high­way near his mo­tor­cy­cle, which had been en­gulfed in flames.

Emer­gency re­spon­ders rushed Per­sad to the hos­pi­tal, but he suc­cumbed to his in­juries short­ly af­ter ar­rival.

Au­thor­i­ties are con­tin­u­ing their in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the cause of the ac­ci­dent.
