A new­born ba­by girl has died from COVID-19.

Ac­cord­ing to the Min­istry of Health in its dai­ly up­date, the new­born ba­by girl was among 19 deaths record­ed to­day.

The ba­by girl has be­come the youngest per­son to die from COVID in this coun­try since the pan­dem­ic be­gan in March 2020.

Last month two boys, both age 7, died from the dis­ease.

The Min­is­ter of Health al­so stat­ed that 14 chil­dren un­der the age of one had been ad­mit­ted to the hos­pi­tal for COVID.

Health of­fi­cials have been warn­ing that the trends have been show­ing younger peo­ple be­ing ad­mit­ted in­to the hos­pi­tals to be treat­ed for COVID-19.

Ear­li­er to­day it was re­vealed that four preg­nant women died from COVID-19. This is ac­cord­ing to the Di­rec­tor in the Di­rec­torate of Women's Health Dr Adesh Sir­jus­ingh, who al­so said

1,002 preg­nant women con­tract­ed the dis­ease.

He al­so added, that there have been four in­stances of trans­mis­sion from a COVID-19 pos­i­tive moth­er to the child.
