The Ministry of Education needs to review online disclosure of the SEA results and make it simpler and less frustrating for school principals, parents, guardians and pupils.
This was a suggestion to the ministry by a school principal of Carapichaima, in central Trinidad on Monday, as many parents were reportedly faced with problems while trying to log into the portal for the results.
One parent told the Guardian Media: “A lot of problems accessing results. Not getting in. The school principal could even access it, neither parents imagine that.”
Another parent said she tried for over 45 minutes after the portal was opened.
“It was really frustrating because we were already anxious and wanted the results without anymore delays,” the parent said.
Grandmother Merlin Deodath, of Freeport, said she was proud of her grandson as he passed for Presentation College, in Chaguanas.
She said, “But oh gosh. It took us so long to log in to get the results. My daughter had been trying since 12 pm and she only got through about minutes to one.”
One school principal said it took him 90 minutes to access the online link/ “It’s 90 minutes and counting and we have got nothing yet. It is very frustrating and the parents are losing patience and are very annoyed,” he said.
He suggested in the future a direct link to each respective school in the future/
“I think the ministry should send a link directly to each school so that we will be able to access our own results and then tell the parents because the general link crashed and we were only getting error or this site can’t be reached.”
When contacted, an official from the Ministry of Education said the site did not crash but that, “there was too much traffic so the site was just slow.”
