Several areas from Siparia, Fyzabad, Palo Seco were locked down with residents and commuters unable to enter as roadways were blocked with burning debris as early as two am in some places.
One resident claimed he was tased and pepper sprayed by police officers who responded to the protest at Palo Seco junction.
Andre Alexis said when he regained consciousness he ran for his life as another resident was being handcuffed by the police.
Alexis said he remained in the bushes until the police left because he was afraid of what might have happened to him.

One man who gave his name as John Boy said the residents have had enough and they have decided to take a stand.
While several areas have been cleared by officers of the South Western Division and Fire Service, the residents said this will not be their last protest. Last week there were protests in Guapo and environs over similar issues.
