Investigations are continuing into the theft of a quantity of alcohol worth $25,000 from Angostura Ltd, Eastern Main Road, Laventille.
The robbery was reportedly discovered by the company’s Inventory Control Manager on Saturday (January 4) at 1.05 pm, during an end-of-year stock check.
The 40-year-old company official reported to police that pre-stock checks on December 28, 2024, of the warehouse, where the Forres Park Puncheon Rum and White Oak Rum were stored showed that all goods were accounted for.
However, checks on Saturday revealed one pallet, which consisted of 50 boxes with each box containing 24 375ml glass bottles of Forres Park Puncheon Rum, were missing.
Investigators visited the Angostura compound on the weekend and searched the warehouse, which is located on the western side of the compound. The facility only operates from Monday to Friday during business hours.
Officers are expected to return to the compound today to conduct an internal search and review CCTV footage of the warehouse and compound. —Anna-Lisa Paul
