Police believe the murders of a 17-year-old school girl and her brother in New Grant last evening were domestic-related.

Shenelle Singh and Keston Singh, 21, were found with multiple chop wounds at a premises at Naggee Road. Police are searching for the owner.

Shenelle, a student of Mayaro Secondary had gone to visit her brother yesterday because she had no school. Parents had protested in front of the school that morning over the lack of furniture in the classrooms and poor conditions at the school. The teen lived with her mother in Mayaro.

Police received an anonymous call around 7 pm of a woman lying motionless at Naggee Road.

When officers arrived about 15 minutes later, they found Shenelle’s bloody body on the eastern side of the road.

She was lying on her stomach with chop wounds to the left side of her face. The officers followed a blood trail to a 12 x 12 wooden house with a galvanized roof about ten feet away where they found her brother slumped over a couch on the front porch with chop wounds to the neck.

Officers of the E999, Tableland and Princes Town Police Stations as well as Homicide Bureau Region 3 visited the scene and Investigations are continuing.
