Two men are to be charged and tak­en be­fore the courts for pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion based on a sur­veil­lance ex­er­cise in the South­ern West­ern Di­vi­sion overnight.

On Fri­day 26th April, 2024, be­tween 7 pm and 11 pm of­fi­cers of the South-West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (SWDTF) con­duct­ed a covert ex­er­cise in the San Fran­cique area. Based on the in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, of­fi­cers of the SWDTF paid at­ten­tion to a White Toy­ota Aqua parked along­side the road­way.

Once the of­fi­cers gath­ered suf­fi­cient in­for­ma­tion, they ap­proached the White Aqua ve­hi­cle and iden­ti­fied them­selves to the oc­cu­pants of the car. Based on their in­tel­li­gence the of­fi­cers searched the ve­hi­cle and al­leged­ly dis­cov­ered a black and brown bronze firearm with a trig­ger mech­a­nism and fir­ing se­lec­tor fit­ted with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing 15 rounds of 7.62 am­mu­ni­tion.

The men, ages 21 and 24 both of El So­cor­ro, San Fer­nan­do were im­me­di­ate­ly ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Fyz­abad Po­lice Sta­tion for

pro­cess­ing and fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tions. Both men are ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore the Mas­ters’ Court ear­ly next week.
