The Trinidad and To­ba­go Sol­id Waste Man­age­ment Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed (SWM­COL) has ad­vised the pub­lic that over the week­end its Emer­gency Man­age­ment Team (EMT) was alert­ed about a fire at the Beetham Land­fill.

In a state­ment this morn­ing, SWM­COL said while the fire has been con­tained smoke is still em­a­nat­ing from the site.

As such, SWM­COL ad­vised the pub­lic and those who live in the vicin­i­ty to ex­er­cise cau­tion as it in­ves­ti­gates the cause of the fire.

“We al­so take this op­por­tu­ni­ty to thank the Trinidad and To­ba­go Fire Ser­vices (TTFS) and SWM­COL’s Emer­gency Man­age­ment Team (EMT) for their ef­forts in ex­tin­guish­ing the fire,” it said.
