To­ba­go will host its first Car­ni­val in Oc­to­ber.

This from Sec­re­tary of Tourism, Cul­ture, An­tiq­ui­ties and Trans­porta­tion Tashia Grace Bur­ris, who was speak­ing at the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA’s), dur­ing an ex­ec­u­tive coun­cil me­dia brief­ing, ti­tled “Man­date Mon­day” on Mon­day morn­ing.

Bur­ris said the date has al­ready been se­lect­ed for the fes­ti­val.

She said it will take place from Oc­to­ber 28 to Oc­to­ber 30, 2022.

Bur­ris said a dy­nam­ic Car­ni­val com­mit­tee has al­ready been put in place for the fes­ti­val. In giv­ing a re­port from her di­vi­sion, Bur­ris said 475 grants were hand­ed out to tourism work­ers af­fect­ed by the shut­downs brought on by the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic.

Bur­ris said the di­vi­sion is cur­rent­ly pro­cess­ing about 100 more grants and those are ex­pect­ed to be dis­trib­uted soon.
