Act­ing Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Mc Don­ald Ja­cob has grant­ed per­mis­sion to Mr Umar Ab­dul­lah to host and ob­serve “The World­wide Ral­ly to Free­dom” card­ed for Sat­ur­day 22nd Jan­u­ary, 2022 at the Queen’s Park Sa­van­nah, Portof- Spain.

Ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease from the TTPS, al­though per­mis­sion has been grant­ed Pub­lic Health Reg­u­la­tions must be ad­hered to. Ac­cord­ing to the reg­u­la­tions the march should be or­ga­nized in clus­ters of no more than ten per­sons and the to­tal should not ex­ceed 250 peo­ple. Al­so face cov­er­ings should be used.

The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) would like to in­form the pub­lic that per­mis­sion has been grant­ed by Act­ing Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Mc Don­ald Ja­cob for Mr Umar Ab­dul­lah to host and ob­serve “The World­wide Ral­ly to Free­dom” card­ed for Sat­ur­day 22nd Jan­u­ary, 2022 at the Queen’s Park Sa­van­nah, Portof- Spain.

Mr Ab­dul­lah has con­firmed re­ceipt of the cor­re­spon­dence ap­prov­ing the afore­men­tioned pub­lic march. Al­though per­mis­sion has been grant­ed for the pub­lic march, the Act­ing Com­mis­sion­er would like to re­mind all per­sons that Trinidad and To­ba­go con­tin­ues to bat­tle against COVID-19, where 1,063 new cas­es were record­ed yes­ter­day.

As such the need to com­ply with Pub­lic Health [2019 Nov­el Coro­n­avirus (2019-nCoV)] Reg­u­la­tions, 2022, where it is stat­ed that the said pub­lic march should be no more than two hun­dred and fifty (250) per­sons in num­ber, prac­tic­ing so­cial dis­tanc­ing and san­i­ti­za­tion meth­ods.

Ad­di­tion­al­ly, the Act­ing CoP ad­vis­es that there should be strict ad­her­ence to Reg­u­la­tion 3 of the Pub­lic Health [2019 Nov­el Coro­n­avirus (2019-nCoV)] Reg­u­la­tions 2022 where there should be no gath­er­ing of per­sons in ex­cess of ten (10) peo­ple.

There­fore, the pub­lic march should be or­ga­nized in clus­ters of no more than ten (10) per­sons, the to­tal not to ex­ceed two hun­dred and fifty (250) per­sons. In ad­di­tion, all per­sons in at­ten­dance are re­quired to wear face masks, face shields or face cov­er­ings in a man­ner cov­er­ing nose, mouth and chin, in com­pli­ance with Reg­u­la­tion 5 of the Pub­lic Health [2019 Nov­el Coro­n­avirus (2019-nCoV0] Reg­u­la­tions, 2022.

In this re­gard, po­lice of­fi­cers will be on site to en­sure per­sons com­ply with law and reg­u­la­tions and are able to ex­er­cise their right in a safe en­vi­ron­ment.
