DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Smarting from their 10-wicket defeat inflicted by South Africa on Friday, West Indies Women regrouped and recorded a comfortable six-wicket victory over Scotland in their second match in Group B of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Tournament at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing 100 runs for victory, the West Indies run-chase got off to a shaky start with Stafanie Taylor who scored an unbeaten 44 in the first match, being the first wicket for the opposition with the score on five. She scored just four runs. She was followed by skipper Hayley Matthews for eight after facing 19 balls. Qiana Joseph scored 31 off 18 balls and crossed the boundary ropes three time and blast one six, and Deandra Dottin scored an unbeaten 28 off 15 balls with two four and two sixes while Chinelle Henry, the Player of The Match, was also undefeated with 18 runs from ten balls with two fours and one six.
West Indies reached their target 101 runs in 11.4 overs.
Earlier, Scotland batted first and scored 99 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs.
Afy Fletcher took three for 22, while Matthews, Henry, and Karishma Ramharack took one wicket each.
West Indies next play Bangladesh on Thursday.
