Scores of work­ers had to be res­cued overnight af­ter a pri­vate­ly-owned drilling rig col­lapsed.

De­tails are still com­ing in but there are un­con­firmed re­ports that one work­er is un­ac­count­ed for.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred in the east field at Sol­da­do, Trin­mar.

In a brief state­ment, Her­itage Pe­tro­le­um Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed (Her­itage) stat­ed that it is ful­ly sup­port­ing Well Ser­vices Pe­tro­le­um Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed (Well Ser­vices) in re­spond­ing to an off­shore in­ci­dent at Rig 110, which is owned and op­er­at­ed by Well Ser­vices.

"Rig 110 was at the time, work­ing with­in Her­itage’s acreage,” the com­pa­ny’s state­ment re­vealed. “Her­itage per­son­nel are on­site and in con­stant con­tact with Well Ser­vices in re­la­tion to the con­tin­u­ing man­age­ment of this in­ci­dent."
