Enterprise Goverment captured the boys' team shooting honours at the National Primary Schools Netball League (NPSNL) final at the Maloney Indoor Sporting Complex, on Wednesday.
The trio of Ajwad Hypolite (26/53), Adam Raymond (23/41) and Danilo Vialva (22/52) combined to score 71 goals from 143 attempts to finish ahead of San Juan Seventh-Day Adventist's (SDA) Jeremiah Alexander (30/57), Joemel Joseph (21/47) and Rashawn Johnson (23/41) who netted 66 goals from 147 tries. In the semifinal round on May 29, San Juan SDA got the better of Enterprise Government.
The Enterprise boys were going for the double in the Boys' League final but came up short. The orange-clad Victoria District representatives were beaten by Barataria Anglican of St George East, 13-5.
Goal-attack Samuel Williams led the scoring for the winners nailing 10 goals from his 15 attempts. Barataria's lanky goal-keeper Israel St Vincente used his height to his advantage to deny the Enterprise players.
Danillo Vialva had a solid game as wing-attack and goal-defence for Enterprise.
Williams' goal-scoring form continued in the boys' individual shooting decider as he hit 30 from 44 tries to edge San Juan SDA's Jeremiah Alexander who also scored 30 goals but did so with more attempts (57). Williams got revenge on Alexander who was victorious in the semifinals.
Adesha Marine of San Fernando SDA also improved on her runner-up finish in the semifinal of the girls' shooting contest to win the title. Marine landed 30 goals from 49 attempts in response to the semifinal winner Holeisha Joseph of Newtown Girls RC, who scored 17 from 23.
St George East won the girls' Inter District top prize getting past Port-of-Spain 7-5. Jermina Weekes (4/6) and Selena Murray (3/7) were the netters for the Champion District while Joseph hit 4/4 for Port-of-Spain.
The finals were originally scheduled for Shaw Park, Tobago on Wednesday but were shifted to Maloney as according to the president of the NPSNL, Nicola Mc Nicolls, the organisation could not secure return flights from Tobago on Wednesday for the Trinidad schools. The girls' final involving St Gabriel's Roman Catholic of the Victoria Educational District and Tobago's Scarborough Methodist has been postponed to Thursday (June 13) along with the girls' team shooting final where Tablepiece Government of Tobago will square off against Barataria Anglican (St George East). Both finals are tentatively set for Shaw Park.
