Presentation College San Fernando’s Brendan Boodoo celebrates his double-century against Toco Secondary in the previous round of matches last Tuesday.

Presentation College Chaguanas, who completed the retention of its Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) Premiership Divisiontitle last week against Vishnu Boys Hindu College, is aiming to complete this year’s edition with an unbeaten streak as it travels to second-placed St Mary’s College Tuesday (March 11).

At St Mary’s ground in Port-of-Spain, the host team, who needs a mathematical miracle to overtake Presentation, still has a lot to play for. A loss today and a huge win for Naparima College at Honeymoon Park in El Dorado, Tunapuna against Hillview College could possibly see it dropping to third, if "Naps" acquire enough bonus points.

While Presentation is unbeaten across eight matches this season, the St Mary’s team is on a five-match win streak and wants to end on a high to carry the momentum and confidence over to the Intercol as they switch formats.

Buoyed by its captain Brendan Boodoo’s unbeaten double hundred in last week’s win against Toco Secondary, Presentation College San Fernando will also want to close off the league with a win at home against ASJA Boys’ College as it looks to defend its Intercol title.

However, in order to achieve this, they need support for their national players, Boodoo, Riyaad Mohammed and Aadian Racha, as much of the burden has been placed on the trio, who have all featured for the Red Force youth teams in the past with Racha even getting a call-up to the Red Force's senior team in January.

Racha will use this match as a warm-up for Yorkshire’s important clash against Queen’s Park Cricket Club tomorrow in the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB)/Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) T20 Festival at the Queen’s Park Oval in St Clair.

The interest will be at the bottom half of the table. Four teams will be relegated this year as the SSCL has decided to reduce the number of teams next season from ten to eight as it was previously. Two of the schools from the Championship Division will be promoted to join the top six from this season.

Toco is already relegated and without a chance to stay afloat. Its match against St Benedict’s College can simply be academic as the La Romain-based College also needs a mathematical miracle to avoid relegation, as they need to get into the top six and need almost 50 points to do so.

Hillview College needs a positive result against Naparima to escape relegation and hopes that Presentation College San Fernando also defeats ASJA to remain in the top flight in 2026. ‘Presentation Sando’ can find itself in hot water if it loses to ASJA and Hillview wins against "Naps".

Vishnu Boy’s will not want to take Fatima College for granted. The Mucurapo-based team is also certain to be relegated but will want to go out on a winning note and spoil Vishnu’s party as the Intercol looms.
