Jayden Seales' return to action was in a losing effort as the right-arm fast-bowler turned out for the Parakeet Buccaneers against the Soca Kings in the Dream 11 T10 Trinidad Blast at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, San Fernando, on Friday.
The Buccaneers were sent in to bat first and quickly, they lost Evin Lewis (0) by the run out route, without facing a ball, at the end of the first over. They got a 20-run partnership between Kiedel Glasgow (14) and Kjorn Ottley (12) but the Buccaneers were plunged into further problems when they lost wickets consistently to be placed in a position of 38 for five in the sixth over.
It was at this point that Seales came to the crease, as he top scored with 20 from 14 balls, with just the one four and one six. He had good support from Eric Garcia. The young Queen's Park II allrounder scored 13 from 11 balls to support the West Indies bowler.
With their late efforts, the Parakeet Buccaneers were able to get to 82 for six. Ansil Bhagan took 2-7 and Nicholas Ali claimed 2-11.
In reply, Dejourn Charles brought his form over from the recent North Zone T20 Tournament and the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) Premiership T20 Festival. The tall left-hander plunged three fours and two sixes, as he continued to show his lack of respect to bowlers.
He shared in a 72-run partnership with Kirstan Kallicharan who scored 34 not out in a good innings that saw five fours in 25 balls, as the Soca Kings got to 83 for two in 8.2 overs for the comfortable win as they kick off their campaign on the fourth edition of the Dream 11 T10 Trinidad Blast.
Seales finished with 1-22 from his two overs.
