Trinidad and To­ba­go’s team pro­duced 10 medals on Day 2 of the 2025 CARIF­TA Games with a pow­er­ful show­ing with three gold, two sil­ver, and five bronze medals at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Mu­cu­rapo on Sun­day night.

The gold medal­list were Christo­pher Sam­my (3000m un­der 17), Omari Brown (Oc­tatholon un­der 17), Tyrique Vin­cent (De­cathlon un­der 20)

At the heart of the day’s suc­cess was Tyrique Vin­cent, who etched his name in­to the his­to­ry books by win­ning gold in the first stag­ing of the Boys Un­der-20 de­cathlon event, where he fin­ished with a to­tal of 6522 points. His clos­est ri­val, Ju­rel Clement of Grena­da, se­cured the sil­ver medal with 6510, and Mat­tias Serin of Guade­loupe with the bronze be­hind 6249.

Vin­cent’s vic­to­ry was a sym­bol of re­silience and ver­sa­til­i­ty, a two-day grind that test­ed his strength, speed, and en­durance across 10 events – long jump, 100 me­tres, high jump, 400 me­tres, 110 hur­dles, pole vault, javelin throw, 1500 me­tres and dis­cus throw.

Shot put. It was a defin­ing mo­ment not just for him but for Team TTO, as the mul­ti-event stood tall among the re­gion’s best.

The medal count for the day be­gan with a sol­id per­for­mance from Durlaina Rouse in the un­der-17 girls’ 400m hur­dles, who clocked 1:03.48 to cap­ture sil­ver, nar­row­ly edged out by Syr­mi­ah Craw­ley of The Ba­hamas (1:02.85). Ja­maica’s Alyssa Car­ty took bronze in 1:03.62.

Just min­utes lat­er, Jen­na-Marie Thomas made her mark in the un­der-20 girls’ 400m hur­dles, se­cur­ing a bronze medal in 59.60 sec­onds. She fin­ished be­hind Michelle Smith of the US Vir­gin Is­lands (56.60) and She­vaughn Thomas of Ja­maica (58.60). Un­for­tu­nate­ly, team­mate Na­talia East­man did not start in the same event.

Team TTO as­sert­ed dom­i­nance in the dis­tance events with a 1-2 fin­ish in the un­der-17 boys’ 3000m. Christo­pher Sam­my claimed gold in 9:13.35, fol­lowed by team­mate Ar­mani Dil­lion, who clocked 9:19.20 to take sil­ver. Bermu­da’s Cameron Ad­kins set­tled for bronze (9:20.00).

O’Shea Cum­mings, the 1500m gold medal­list from Day 1, re­turned to the podi­um in the open girls’ 3000m, this time col­lect­ing bronze with a time of 10:35.08. Ja­maica’s Sushana John­son (10:13.58) and Ashara Frater (10:22.43) took gold and sil­ver, re­spec­tive­ly.

In the re­lay semi­fi­nals, T&T teams booked their spots in mul­ti­ple fi­nals: the un­der-17 girls clocked 45.93 to fin­ish first in their semi­fi­nals; the un­der-17 boys, de­spite a dropped ba­ton, fin­ished fourth but still ad­vanced; and both un­der-20 girls and boys re­lay teams al­so qual­i­fied for yes­ter­day’s medal races.

T&T Un­der-17 4x100m girls and boys teams and the Un­der-20 girls cap­tured bronze medals, while the boys un­der-20 team se­cured a sil­ver.

In the un­der-20 girls’ shot put, Pey­ton Win­ter fin­ished fifth with a throw of 12.39m, while Ad­dalia Sylvester placed fourth in the un­der-17 girls’ dis­cus, reg­is­ter­ing 33.90m
