Jerome Ward and Seve Day ad­vanced to the sec­ond round of the Men’s A Di­vi­sion when the 2021 East Clubs Clas­si­fied Ten­nis Tour­na­ment served off at the Trinidad Coun­try Club, Long Cir­cu­lar Road, Mar­aval on Sat­ur­day.

Ward reg­is­tered a straight­for­ward win over Ask­ia Richards 6-2, 6-3 and Day slammed Lui Chin 6-3, 6-2 to set up clash­es with Ki­no Fran­cis and Krys­tan Valen­tine, re­spec­tive­ly.

This af­ter Fran­cis was on a first-round bye while Valen­tine won by walkover from sixth-ranked Praveen Ku­mar.

In two oth­er men’s A cat­e­go­ry match­es, Richard Mc Letchie beat Jer­mille Dan­clair 6-2, 7-5 and next faces top-ranked de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Nabeel Mo­hammed while Adri­an De Sil­va oust­ed Kyle Brit­ton 6-2, 6-2 and will bat­tle fifth-ranked Ethan Wong.

Carlista Mo­hammed is the top-ranked women’s A-Di­vi­sion seed and reign­ing cham­pi­on and starts her de­fence ver­sus Jae­da-Lee Daniel-Joseph in the quar­ter­fi­nals to­day. The tour­na­ment con­tin­ues to­day (Sun­day) from 9 am.
