Fashion designer Saleem Samuel, whose bridal, evening and ready to wear creations have earned him acclaim throughout the Caribbean, recently debuted “Unity,” a resort collection that combines colour and culture to reflect harmony.
“I was inspired to use vibrant colours to create this collection and shape it into easy breezy Caribbean wear using materials such as sheer beaded chiffon, tie-dye blended fabric and bold colours of georgette, creating exquisite designs for women,” explained Samuel who accessorised his creations with headpieces to give a turban effect, bangles and matching chains.

The easy-to-wear and suitcase-friendly collection includes kaftans, high waisted pencil pants, flared skirts and long tops that can be worn as dresses.
For men, there are strongly patterned jackets that are easy to interchange with long or short trousers and colour blocking tops.
‘Unity’ was inspired by the Hindu festival of lights, Divali, so the photoshoot for the collection was done at the picturesque Triveni Mandir in Williamsville, south Trinidad, with models Naroshni Chan, Aneila Mahabir and Kegan Gulstan. Makeup was by Debra Mc Williams Wilson and the men’s shoes were provided by Shoe Frenzy.
