KFC T&T is hoping that the launch of its new Crispy BBQ Zinger sandwich will help boost sandwich sales for the brand.
“Right now our sandwich mix is about eight per cent. We do expect with the launch of this new sandwich, Zinger sales, our sandwiches to go up to around 12 per cent of the menu mix,” said vice president of KFC & Pizza Hut T&T, Roger Rambharose, yesterday at the launch of the new sandwich at KFC’s Maraval branch.
Rambharose said the product served to pay homage to T&T’s great contribution to the brand as the KFC also celebrates its 50 anniversary of operations in this country.
“Today we are launching our Crispy BBQ Zinger sandwich. It is the second major LTO (limited time offer) that KFC T&T has launched. As you are aware, the Zinger was created in T&T in 1984. And this will do it justice in terms of raising the taste and the flavour profile of the world’s most enjoyed chicken sandwich (which was) developed right here in T&T,” he said,
Rambharose said the company has been working to ensure that it has the supply to match the demand of customers amid several concerns in the restaurant industry.
The new KFC BBQ sandwich, Zinger sandwich differs from the original sandwich as it features be two slices of cheese and onion crisps while the breast fillet is covered in smokey BBQ sauce.
The KFC franchise in T&T is held by Prestige Holdings Ltd, which reversed its 2021 loss of $28.3 million to report a profit of $35.4 million for the 12 months ended November 30, 2022.
Apart from KFC, Prestige Holdings also holds the Pizza Hut, Subway, Starbucks and TGI Fridays franchises. It also hold the TGI Friday franchise in Jamaica.
