Massy Stores has invested $50 million to convert its San Juan Diskomart into a full supermarket.
CEO of Massy Stores Roxanne De Freitas said the store was brought up to standard with various codes including health and safety as well as investment in equipment, stock and staff training.
“We launched this store approximately two years ago – under the banner of Diskomart and as we gained experience and learned more about this community we realised that San Juan was ready for so much more,” De Freitas said.
She said the move also signified that the company is here to stay.
De Freitas also noted that the decision to change from Diskomart was driven by increased demand from customers to be a part of Massy loyalty points programme, which was not offered through the discounted brand.
The points system was officially resumed this month after Massy suffered a cyber attack in April.
Another Massy Stores service offered at its San Juan location is its Massy Stores Gift Cards which was not available at the Diskomart.
De Freitas said the company also takes its corporate social responsibility very seriously as will be assisting social organisations in the community, including the Audrey Mollineau Home for Women in Barataria.
“This is such an important part of who we are and what we do because our purpose statement, ‘Our Family Serving Your Family’ is not just about customer service – it’s also about how we serve our community,” De Freitas added.
