The funeral for the late beloved former St Augustine Girls’ High School (SAGHS) principal Dr Anna Mahase, will take place on Tuesday at 10 am at Aramalaya Presbyterian Church, Tunapuna. Her cremation will follow at Belgroves Funeral Home, Tacarigua.
There will be a wake service at SAGHS, Churchill-Roosevelt Highway, today at 3 pm, in memory of Mahase.
Mahase died early on Friday at Medical Associates Hospital, St Joseph. She was 91.
Making history as the first woman in T&T to be appointed as a principal at the age of 28, Mahase spent three decades of her life as a highly respected educator.
She was also a recipient of several national awards, including the Medal of Merit (gold) in 1976 and the Chaconia Medal in 1990. She was one of 50 people honoured with the Excellence in Education and Distinguished Public Service award on the 50th anniversary of T&T’s independence.
