Dr Delmon Dexter Baker has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA). According to an internal memo leaked to Guardian Media, Dr Baker officially assumed office on January 3.
The memo pointed out that Dr Baker, a Tobagonian, is well-acquainted with the TRHA, having worked with the organisation for over 12 years.
The memo outlined that his qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Medicine and Surgery, two MBAs specialising in hospital and health services management, as well as innovation, marketing, and leadership.
The memo said Dr Baker’s career within the TRHA includes serving as a house officer for four years, a district medical officer (DMO) for six years, and most recently, acting as hospital administrator at the Roxborough Hospital from September 30, 2024, to January 2, 2025.
Baker previously served as a member of parliament and minister from 2010 to 2015 in the People’s Partnership government before leaving the collation and resuming his role as a DMO in 2017.
