Dr Del­mon Dex­ter Bak­er has been ap­point­ed as the new Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer (CEO) of the To­ba­go Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ty (TRHA). Ac­cord­ing to an in­ter­nal memo leaked to Guardian Me­dia, Dr Bak­er of­fi­cial­ly as­sumed of­fice on Jan­u­ary 3.

The memo point­ed out that Dr Bak­er, a To­bag­on­ian, is well-ac­quaint­ed with the TRHA, hav­ing worked with the or­gan­i­sa­tion for over 12 years. 

The memo out­lined that his qual­i­fi­ca­tions in­clude a Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence in Med­i­cine and Surgery, two MBAs spe­cial­is­ing in hos­pi­tal and health ser­vices man­age­ment, as well as in­no­va­tion, mar­ket­ing, and lead­er­ship.

The memo said Dr Bak­er’s ca­reer with­in the TRHA in­cludes serv­ing as a house of­fi­cer for four years, a dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer (DMO) for six years, and most re­cent­ly, act­ing as hos­pi­tal ad­min­is­tra­tor at the Rox­bor­ough Hos­pi­tal from Sep­tem­ber 30, 2024, to Jan­u­ary 2, 2025.

Bak­er pre­vi­ous­ly served as a mem­ber of par­lia­ment and min­is­ter from 2010 to 2015 in the Peo­ple’s Part­ner­ship gov­ern­ment be­fore leav­ing the col­la­tion and re­sum­ing his role as a DMO in 2017.
