Police are investigating two more murders, as the toll for the year has crossed 600.

In the first incident yesterday, police said father of three, Robin Sirjoosingh, 67, was shot dead at Plantation Road, Valencia.

Sirjoosingh’s body was found in his blue Nissan Frontier by farmers from the area around 9 am. The front doors of the vehicle were open and farmers who were going to their gardens saw Sirjoosingh.

They initially thought he was sitting in his vehicle relaxing but when they called out to him a few minutes later and got no response, they went to investigate and realised he was slumped to the middle of the dashboard and was bleeding from a wound to his head.

Sirjoosingh reportedly occupied ten acres of land at Plantation Road, Valencia, which he cultivates with short crops, including lettuce, tomatoes, watermelon and had employed some villagers to work in his garden.

Police reported that Sirjoosingh had some squabbles with squatters in the area about land boundaries and had made several reports to the Valencia Police Station.

They believe this could have been the motive for Sirjoosingh’s killing.

A party of officers led by Sr Supt Khan and including Ag Insp Harper, Cpl Jupiter, PCs Kennedy Norville, Bones and James visited the scene. They were later joined by officers attached to Arouca Homicide Bureau Region II.

District Medical Officer Dr Chandolu viewed the body and ordered its removal to the Sangre Grande Hospital, pending a post-mortem at the Forensic Science Centre, St James.

CSIs processed the scene and recovered several spent shells.

Sirjoosingh’s body was identified by his son Avinash.

Officers attached to Arouca Homicide Bureau Region II are continuing investigations.

In the other incident, Chaguanas resident Likhram Pramlal was stabbed to death by a woman following an argument at his Chaguanas home.

Police said Pramlal was reportedly quarrelling with the woman, who was known to him, over money at his William Street, Enterprise home around 12.30 pm, when she stabbed him once in the chest.

Pramlal was rushed to the Chaguanas District Health Facility where he was pronounced dead.

Police subsequently detained the woman.

Officers of the Homicide Region III and Chaguanas CID responded to the scene and are investigating.
