The Dig­i­cel Foun­da­tion has is­sued an open call to the NGO com­mu­ni­ty to bring for­ward their spe­cial com­mu­ni­ty projects which could be fund­ed by the Foun­da­tion to the tune of TT$100,000.

The open call comes as Dig­i­cel Foun­da­tion com­mem­o­rates 10 years of work­ing to im­prove lives in com­mu­ni­ties across Trinidad and To­ba­go.

An of­fi­cial state­ment from the Foun­da­tion notes that 10 projects at TT$100,000 each will be se­lect­ed, as TT$1 mil­lion has been al­lo­cat­ed to this cause, specif­i­cal­ly.

“The ‘Call’ is open to reg­is­tered non-prof­it or­gan­i­sa­tions, this in­cludes, com­mu­ni­ty-based or­gan­i­sa­tions, faith-based or­gan­i­sa­tions and pub­lic schools,” Dig­i­cel Foun­da­tion ex­plains.

“Se­lect­ed projects must be im­ple­ment­ed with­in 8-12 weeks and must trans­form an in­door or out­door com­mu­ni­ty space. On­ly reg­is­tered groups, with proof of reg­is­tra­tion can ap­ply.  Groups must al­so have an ac­tive bank ac­count in the group’s name and show ev­i­dence of good gov­er­nance and have ex­pe­ri­ence in ex­e­cut­ing com­mu­ni­ty projects,” it said.  

It added: “Ap­pli­cants are en­cour­aged to col­lab­o­rate with oth­er non-prof­its, pri­vate and pub­lic sec­tor where pos­si­ble. Dig­i­cel Foun­da­tion will al­so be look­ing for in­no­va­tion, ben­e­fi­cia­ry im­pact and ev­i­dence of sus­tain­abil­i­ty.”

In the past six months, Dig­i­cel Foun­da­tion is­sued TT$450,000 in grants to six NGOs to im­ple­ment EPIC projects.  

“Two of these projects were de­signed to as­sist vul­ner­a­ble women, one tar­get­ed se­nior cit­i­zens, two fo­cused on youth and one was im­ple­ment­ed at the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison to ben­e­fit fe­male and male in­mates,” the Foun­da­tion re­port­ed.

“The EPIC call for ap­pli­ca­tions is just one of many projects the Foun­da­tion will im­ple­ment to com­mem­o­rate its decade of trans­form­ing com­mu­ni­ties in Trinidad and To­ba­go,” it added.

Over the past 10 years, Dig­i­cel Foun­da­tion has spon­sored 120 EPIC projects, im­pact­ing over 56,000 per­sons in Trinidad and To­ba­go with an in­vest­ment of TT$4.5 mil­lion.
