The Digicel Foundation has issued an open call to the NGO community to bring forward their special community projects which could be funded by the Foundation to the tune of TT$100,000.
The open call comes as Digicel Foundation commemorates 10 years of working to improve lives in communities across Trinidad and Tobago.
An official statement from the Foundation notes that 10 projects at TT$100,000 each will be selected, as TT$1 million has been allocated to this cause, specifically.
“The ‘Call’ is open to registered non-profit organisations, this includes, community-based organisations, faith-based organisations and public schools,” Digicel Foundation explains.
“Selected projects must be implemented within 8-12 weeks and must transform an indoor or outdoor community space. Only registered groups, with proof of registration can apply. Groups must also have an active bank account in the group’s name and show evidence of good governance and have experience in executing community projects,” it said.
It added: “Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with other non-profits, private and public sector where possible. Digicel Foundation will also be looking for innovation, beneficiary impact and evidence of sustainability.”
In the past six months, Digicel Foundation issued TT$450,000 in grants to six NGOs to implement EPIC projects.
“Two of these projects were designed to assist vulnerable women, one targeted senior citizens, two focused on youth and one was implemented at the Maximum Security Prison to benefit female and male inmates,” the Foundation reported.
“The EPIC call for applications is just one of many projects the Foundation will implement to commemorate its decade of transforming communities in Trinidad and Tobago,” it added.
Over the past 10 years, Digicel Foundation has sponsored 120 EPIC projects, impacting over 56,000 persons in Trinidad and Tobago with an investment of TT$4.5 million.
