A Laventille man was among four suspects arrested following a home invasion in Penal yesterday.

The family, including a woman and three men, was tied up while the bandits ransacked the house and robbed them of several items.

One of the victims, a 36-year-old welder, was raking grass in front of his home at Ramcharan Trace when a red Nissan hatchback, stopped in front of his house.

Four occupants exited the vehicle and one pointed a gun at the victim as they forced him into his house.

The victims were ordered to lie on the ground as the suspects stole their cellphones, jewelry, a laptop, money, and alcohol. They tied up the family and ransacked the house before escaping in the hatchback.

One of the victims managed to free himself and called E999. Insp John in company with officers from the Penal Police Station, CID, and Gang Unit along with PC Singh, PC Padilla, and PC Boodoo, and officers from the Southern and Central Division, responded and intercepted the hatchback along Ramcharan Trace, San Francique. Several items were recovered in the vehicle.

The driver, a 40-year-old labourer, of 5th Street Charles Street, Gasparillo was arrested while another vehicle was intercepted, and several stolen items were found in the occupants' possession.

The driver of that car, a 30-year-old labourer of St. Barbs Road, Laventille, and a 34-year-old passenger of Carli Bay, Couva, were arrested.

Officers of the South Western Division Task Force also responded and arrested a 35-year-old labourer, of Sea View Drive, Cap De Ville, Point Fortin, who was seen running away from the vehicle. Police said items were also found in his possession. They were arrested and taken to the Penal Police Station pending further enquires. Searches for other suspects were unsuccessful.
