Residents of Kernahan Trace, Cunupia blocked off part of Chin Chin Road on Friday morning protesting a lack of water.
The residents have been without a steady supply of water for the past seven years culminating with the burning of old mattresses, barrels and other debris.
The protest began from as early as 5.30 am, with residents setting the debris alight near Griffith Trace and Kernahan Trace off the Chin Chin Main Road.
Up to 7 am, the roads were still blocked.
One resident, who asked not to be named told Guardian Media that they have endured seven years of mostly dry taps.
Four years ago, during the height of the pandemic, residents complained that while their street was without water consistently.
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said then that the issue was as a result of the harsh dry season and reduced water production at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant.
