30-year-old Ravi Ramoutar pleaded guilty to the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and was ordered to stay away from the victim. A 30-year-old truck driver from Rio Claro was granted bail in the sum of$12,000 or a cash alternative of $3000, when he appeared before Senior Magistrate (Ag) Ava Vandenburg-Bailey, at the Mayaro Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
RAVI RAMOUTAR pleaded guilty to the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and was also ordered to have no contact with the victim, his ex-girlfriend. The matter was adjourned to Monday 22nd November, 2021.
Around 9 am on Thursday 30th September 2021, a woman left her home in company with the accused who was driving a black Ford Ranger vehicle. While driving along the Naparima Mayaro Road, Mayaro, they got into an argument and the accused allegedly dealt her several cuffs to her face.
A report was made at the Rio Claro Police Station on 1st October, 2011 and investigations were conducted by the Gender Based Violence Unit, which resulted in the arrest of the accused on Sunday 17th October, 2021.
