Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley yesterday confirmed to Guardian Media that he was doing better in spite of the COVID-19 diagnosis.
The Office of the Prime Minister also issued an update yesterday which said that the PM met virtually with Maarten Wetselaar, director Integrated Gas, Renewables and Energy Solutions, Shell Global and Eugene Okpere, president and country chair, Shell Trinidad and Tobago
The media update did not say what the meeting was about but it stated that Rowley also chaired the Cabinet meeting Thursday.
Wetselaar and Rowley met back in 2016 when Wetslaar and his group paid a courtesy call on the prime minister.
According to an OPM release at that time, Wetselaar apprised Rowley about Shell’s future plans for T&T.
Wetslaar has been charged with the responsibility of delivering and growing Shell’s global Integrated Gas business.
Back in 2016 he also headed up Shell’s newly established New Energies business which oversees the exploration of and investment in new low-carbon (renewable energy) opportunities.
Rowley spent the long Easter weekend in Tobago and remains there in isolation after being diagnosed with the virus.
According to an update from OPM Tuesday, the Prime Minister began experiencing flu-like symptoms on Monday evening and was tested.
The OPM said that Rowley was taken to the Scarborough Hospital on Wednesday night to test his lung function in the wake of the virus.
