Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley yes­ter­day con­firmed to Guardian Me­dia that he was do­ing bet­ter in spite of the COVID-19 di­ag­no­sis.

The Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter al­so is­sued an up­date yes­ter­day which said that the PM met vir­tu­al­ly with Maarten Wet­se­laar, di­rec­tor In­te­grat­ed Gas, Re­new­ables and En­er­gy So­lu­tions, Shell Glob­al and Eu­gene Okpere, pres­i­dent and coun­try chair, Shell Trinidad and To­ba­go

The me­dia up­date did not say what the meet­ing was about but it stat­ed that Row­ley al­so chaired the Cab­i­net meet­ing Thurs­day.

Wet­se­laar and Row­ley met back in 2016 when Wet­slaar and his group paid a cour­tesy call on the prime min­is­ter.

Ac­cord­ing to an OPM re­lease at that time, Wet­se­laar ap­prised Row­ley about Shell’s fu­ture plans for T&T.

Wet­slaar has been charged with the re­spon­si­bil­i­ty of de­liv­er­ing and grow­ing Shell’s glob­al In­te­grat­ed Gas busi­ness.

Back in 2016 he al­so head­ed up Shell’s new­ly es­tab­lished New En­er­gies busi­ness which over­sees the ex­plo­ration of and in­vest­ment in new low-car­bon (re­new­able en­er­gy) op­por­tu­ni­ties.

Row­ley spent the long East­er week­end in To­ba­go and re­mains there in iso­la­tion af­ter be­ing di­ag­nosed with the virus.

Ac­cord­ing to an up­date from OPM Tues­day, the Prime Min­is­ter be­gan ex­pe­ri­enc­ing flu-like symp­toms on Mon­day evening and was test­ed.

The OPM said that Row­ley was tak­en to the Scar­bor­ough Hos­pi­tal on Wednes­day night to test his lung func­tion in the wake of the virus.
