There were no new COVID-19 death re­port­ed in To­ba­go last week, ac­cord­ing to the lat­est week­ly up­date, cov­er­ing the pe­ri­od Sun­day 16 to Sat­ur­day 22 Oc­to­ber 2022, from the Di­vi­sion of Health, Well­ness and So­cial Pro­tec­tion, in the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA).

There was one new COVID-19 death re­port­ed in To­ba­go last week—that of an un­vac­ci­nat­ed per­son—with the is­land’s death toll from the dis­ease now at 286, as at Sat­ur­day, Oc­to­ber 15.

PA­HO, the Pan Amer­i­can Health Or­ga­ni­za­tion, has de­nounced a video it warns is a de­lib­er­ate at­tempt to spread mis­in­for­ma­tion about COVID-19 vac­cines that has gone vi­ral in so­cial me­dia, which PA­HO says is us­ing its name and lo­go fraud­u­lent­ly.

To­day (Fri­day 30 Sep­tem­ber 2022) is the last day par­ents will be able to get a first dose of the pae­di­atric Pfiz­er COVID-19 vac­cine for their 5 to 11-year-old chil­dren.

The 2022 edi­tion of Health in the Amer­i­c­as, the flag­ship pub­li­ca­tion of the Pan Amer­i­can Health Or­ga­ni­za­tion (PA­HO), high­lights the im­pact of COVID-19 on the pop­u­la­tions of the re­gion, which was of­ten the epi­cen­tre of the pan­dem­ic with more than 177 mil­lion cas­es and 2.8 mil­lion deaths.

There were two new COVID-19 deaths in To­ba­go last week, with the de­ceased re­port­ed to be a ful­ly vac­ci­nat­ed per­son and an un­vac­ci­nat­ed per­son.  This puts the is­land’s death toll from the dis­ease at 285, as at Sat­ur­day, Sep­tem­ber 24.

Pfiz­er asked U.S. reg­u­la­tors Mon­day to ex­pand use of its up­dat­ed COVID-19 boost­er shot to chil­dren ages 5 to 11.

The Min­istry of Health has record­ed 5 ad­di­tion­al COVID-re­lat­ed deaths. This brings the to­tal num­ber of deaths to 4,189. There are cur­rent­ly 184 pa­tients in the hos­pi­tal. The min­istry has al­so record­ed 101 new COVID cas­es in the last 24 hours, bring­ing the to­tal num­ber of ac­tive cas­es to 4,488.
