Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Fan Qiu, paid a courtesy call to Minister of Social Development and Family Services, on Tuesday. The meeting included cordial discussions on opportunities for greater collaboration between the Chinese Embassy and the Ministry.
Among the discussions held, was the need for greater collaboration among both offices, and improvement to the social services delivery systems in Trinidad and Tobago through training and development.
Minister Cox took the opportunity to provide pertinent information about the Ministry’s various programmes and services, particularly those available to families and the elderly. According to Minister Cox, “The Ministry wants to work closer with families. Family plays an important role because they’re the first socializers. Therefore, the Ministry continues to develop programs and services that strengthen families and promote healthy family life.” Minister Cox also expounded on some of the Ministry’s key transformation projects, such as the establishment of the Vulnerability Register and Suicide Prevention Hotline.
