Six charged with Tobago double murder

Six per­sons, in­clud­ing a woman, were charged for the mur­ders of Ken­ny Wolfe and James Fer­gus­son, which oc­curred on Ju­ly 21 st in To­ba­go.


A sev­enth man was charged for pos­ses­sion of a stolen ve­hi­cle, a firearm, and am­mu­ni­tion.


All sev­en who ranged in ages 21 years to 34 years, were charged on Ju­ly 31st fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Roger Gas­pard SC.


They are:

Ja­son Cae­sar aka “Poi” for two counts of mur­der and pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion

An­der­son Bel­grav aka “Skull” for two counts of mur­der

Tre­ston Reno aka “Yan­kee” for two counts of mur­der, pos­ses­sion of firearm and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion

Den­zil Turpin for two counts of mur­der.

Nicholas Cow­an aka “Bulls” for two counts of mur­der

Gilisa Bonas for two counts of mur­der and pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na.

Kervis Tay­lor aka “Shot­ter” was charged for pos­ses­sion of a stolen mo­tor ve­hi­cle, pos­ses­sion of firearm and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, the vic­tims 35-year-old Mr. Wolfe, an elec­tri­cian, who lived in Gold­en Lane, and 23- year old Mr. Fer­gus­son, un­em­ployed who lived at Ba­co­let, were dri­ving in a ve­hi­cle along St Ce­celia Road, To­ba­go, when an­oth­er ve­hi­cle, dri­ving in the op­po­site di­rec­tion and bear­ing false num­ber plate col­lid­ed with their ve­hi­cle.

Two men ex­it­ed the ve­hi­cle and fired shots at Wolfe and Fer­gus­son fol­low­ing which they es­caped in an AQUA ve­hi­cle.


The po­lice were con­tact­ed and up­on their ar­rival they found Wolfe and Fer­gus­son down a precipice off St Ce­celia Road, Con­cor­dia, To­ba­go.

They were al­ready dead. An ex­er­cise was spear­head­ed by Ag W/Supt Suzette Mar­tin, of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (H.B.I), Sgt. Mark Her­nan­dez, of the Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Re­sponse Team (SORT), the To­ba­go Di­vi­sion, Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit, Cy­ber So­cial Me­dia Unit (CSMU) Re­search An­a­lyt­i­cal Unit (RAU), and the Trinidad and To­ba­go Air Guard (TTAG).

Charges were laid by W/Sgt. Sylvester, of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI) Re­gion 2, while in­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by ASP (Ag.) Sean Dhilpaul, HBI Re­gion 2.

The sev­en ac­cused ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Joanne Con­nor at the Scar­bor­ough Mag­is­trates’ Vir­tu­al First Court on Au­gust 3rd and the mat­ters were post­poned to Sep­tem­ber 1st.


Act­ing Deputy Com­mis­sion­er Mc Don­ald Ja­cob said the ar­rests of the sev­en per­sons fol­lowed ex­ten­sive in­ves­ti­ga­tions by var­i­ous sec­tions/units in the TTPS.

He point­ed out there has been a dras­tic in­crease in mur­ders be­ing solved as a re­sult of a new ap­proach in the use of tech­nol­o­gy as di­rect­ed by Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice, Gary Grif­fith.

Mr. Ja­cob said apart from the in­crease in de­tec­tion, there has been 55 mur­ders less this year than over the cor­re­spond­ing pe­ri­od in 2019. He al­so re­vealed there has been an over­all 25 per­cent de­crease in se­ri­ous crimes.
