531 new COVID cases

The Min­istry of Health has not record­ed any new COVID re­lat­ed deaths. This leaves the to­tal num­ber of deaths at 3,845. There are cur­rent­ly 186 pa­tients in the hos­pi­tal. The min­istry has al­so record­ed 531 new COVID cas­es in the last 24 hours, bring­ing the to­tal num­ber of ac­tive cas­es to 8,703.

To­ba­go has record­ed 47 new COVID 19 in­fec­tions with­in the last 24 hours, bring­ing the is­land's ac­tive cas­es to 553. Eleven peo­ple are cur­rent­ly hos­pi­talised.

WHO: Nearly 15 million deaths associated with COVID-19 

LON­DON (AP) — The World Health Or­ga­ni­za­tion es­ti­mates that near­ly 15 mil­lion peo­ple were killed ei­ther by coro­n­avirus or by its im­pact on over­whelmed health sys­tems in the past two years, more than dou­ble the of­fi­cial death toll of 6 mil­lion. Most of the fa­tal­i­ties were in South­east Asia, Eu­rope and the Amer­i­c­as.

NEW YORK (AP) — An in­crease in COVID-19 in­fec­tions around the U.S. has sent more cities in­to new high-risk cat­e­gories that are sup­posed to trig­ger in­door mask wear­ing, but much of the coun­try is stop­ping short of bring­ing back re­stric­tions amid deep pan­dem­ic fa­tigue.
